The internet has made it easy for potential customers to keep tabs on businesses. A quick visit to a company’s Facebook page, for example, can help keep customers informed as to any new offers or promotions ahead of the general public. There are also countless websites where you can read testimonials from a business’ former customers who weigh in on their experience and how well the company treated them. But for customers who want their information from one of America’s most trusted consumer protection agencies, there’s no alternative to the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
Founded in 1912 largely in response to the ubiquity of snake oil medicines and false advertising, the BBB is a nonprofit that works toward “advancing marketplace trust” by setting standards that businesses can follow, encouraging businesses to abide by best practices for advertising and engaging with customers, and more. Perhaps the BBB’s most famous service is its ratings of businesses–in fact, in 2015 alone, over 172 million people consulted BBB ratings for profiles of more than 5.3 million businesses.
BBB’s ratings are conducted on a 100-point scale, and depending on the number of points a business earns, it is assigned a score that ranges from “A+” to “F.” Points are awarded based on a number of factors, including the size of the business, the number of complaints that have been filed against it and how well the business has responded to those complaints, how transparent it is, if there have been any government actions or sanctions against it, and so on. BBB-rated businesses must also agree to live up to the organization’s “Standards for Trust,” a series of eight items designed to foster and maintain consumers’ trust in businesses.
Windows USA is proud to have an A+ rating from the BBB. We’ve been accredited since 1970, and in that time, we’ve worked hard to make sure that we provide our customers with the best experience possible, from our initial sale all the way to installation and beyond.
